Styling a girl's Nursery at the Homebuyers Centre Display Home
To say that I was excited to do a nursery was an understatement I knew immediately the palette and overall concept that I wished to create in this space!
My inspiration came from my favourite and very on trend palette blush and white, its soft tones works so beautifully in a girl’s room. Part of my design concept was to bring in the blush and white and tie them with the whimsical, bohemian trend. I did use these trends in small elements without overwhelming the room.
There were 2 elements that I wanted to shine in the space one was the wallpaper and secondly the artwork. I knew the perfect wallpaper it was the Jade in the Musk from These Walls, I have adored this wallpaper from afar and was thrilled to use it, this became my perfect focal point. It has the most perfect blush tone and the sweetest white pattern details; it’s a great choice and one which will last for many years as bubbas begin to outgrow their nursery.
Next choice was my art work, keeping with the whimsical and bohemian elements of the space, the perfect choices of art was the Mrs Mighetto, I choose the Delta and the Miss Bianca/Swan Boat Fine Art Prints 2 pack. With these prints in mind I wanted to create a gallery wall for interest and choose to mix these prints in various sized frames, also used some gold ones to tie in the whimsical element.
On the opposite wall, been the feature wall with the wallpaper I choose the Sweetest Adelle print the perfect combination to accompany the wallpaper and drawing the bohemian vibe with the elephant, again available from Norsu Interiors.
Another point that I find exciting was creating a space that is both affordable and accessible for potential buyers and clients. The larger pieces in the Nursery were purchased keeping in mind the piece point, which allowed me to be a little more flexible in bringing in those personal touches at a higher but still reasonable price point.
The White Sonata Cot is available to purchase from Mocka, I choose this cot as it helped to create a sense of space been both white and open, it was the perfect addition that worked with the theme of the room, it also can be altered to 2 heights which is great. I also choose a canopy to hang above the cot, it was placed off centre to create both interest and to bring in a sense of whimsical design in the nursery. This one had the sweetest pom pom additions scattered all over. This is the Rose Avenue in White and available from Home Love Interiors.
The chest of drawers was the Hemmes from Ikea, again keeping in mind the choice colour as well as the price. To add a personal touch, I changed the black knobs to the gold clear floral ones they tied in perfectly with the subtle gold touches within the nursery, these were purchased from Provincial living.
Every nursery needs a rocking chair and I came across the perfect blush one from Adairs, it ticked all the boxes as it tied in with the white and hint of timber tones in the space.
Adairs have such an amazing range of bedding and homewares, I purchased the bedding, macramé cushion and pouf as well as the soft dolls all from Adairs, they always have great sales and defiantly should shop around their clearance items too.
Various pieces were chosen within the nursery to keep within the budget, it’s amazing what is available at stores like Kmart and Ikea some ticket items that were purchased was the Jute Round Rug, Macramé Wall hanging, Emotion Wooden Blocks, Angel Wings, Floral Head Band, White Cushion placed on the Rocking Chair were all from Kmart. The white shelf and timber brackets and the floating white book shelf were both purchased from Ikea.
By shopping at these affordable stores, it enabled me to purchase from online businesses like, Growing Footprints, Little Anouk, Little Bambino Bear and Norsu Interiors for the styling details that were both unique and beautiful.
